Hotel Review: Newport Bay Club - Compass Club

July 2, 2016

From June 6 til June 9, 2016 we stayed at the Newport Bay Club hotel at Disneyland Paris.
We've stayed at this hotel before, but this time it was the first time after the complete renovation of the hotel and the first time we had booked Compass Club.

Newport Bay Club is the largest hotel at Disneyland Paris and one of the largest hotels in Europe, with more than 1000 rooms and opened in April 1992. It was styled after archetypal New England architecture.

Recently the hotel completed a long refurbishment. Which means that not only the exterior was refurbished, but it also involved a complete redesign of the facilities: new decoration for rooms and corridors, a new look for the lobby, a new shop (which will possibly open this fall) and a redesign of the restaurants and the pool area. And the hotel offers a new service, Compass Club with many benefits since December 14, 2015.
On March 8, 2016 the hotel received a 4-star classification.

Checking In

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt like valued guests. The Compass Club service made it all extra special for us.
We arrived by car and we were guided to the front of the hotel. There they were waiting for us to take all our luggage out of the car and to drive our car to a private parkinglot.

We had a long drive and we were quite tired, so it was nice to hear we could go and check-in at the Compass Club. The Compass Club Check-In looks beautiful and is also inspired by New England.
It was a lovely warm welcome. The castmember who assisted us, offered us a seat and asked us if we wanted something to drink. We received an envelope with our name on it, which contained the park map, the hotel fastpass tickets (for each day one per person) and the hotel easy-pass. We also received the Smart Media Card when i asked for that to try. The castmember explained everything to us and after a nice chat about other Disney parks, he mentioned that our luggage was already sent to our room and the room was ready for us. It was early in the morning so that was a lovely surprise.

The castmember showed us the private Compass Club Lounge and he told us that we could arrive between 7.00am and 11.00am in the morning to have breakfast, we didn't need to mention when we wanted to have breakfast.
In this Compass Club Lounge we could also have Tea-Time everyday between 4.00pm and 5.45pm. And we could use softdrinks from 12.00pm to 10.00pm. Wow, what a luxury!
We said goodbye to the castmember and went to our room.

Guest room

The Compass Club rooms are on the 7th and 8th floor of the hotel. Our room included two Queen beds and it had lake view. The amenities included a desk with mirror, a sitting area, LCD TV, mini-refrigerator, hairdryer, in-room safe, coffee-maker, kettle, coffee and tea.

Before the refurbishment the room looked more white, which we liked a lot too. After the refurbishment the rooms look more like you're on the Disney Cruiseline. At the top on the wall there are portholes with disneycharacters. The room is well themed and it has Mickey on the bedsheets, the carpeting and at the head of the beds.

Unfortunately the windows could no longer fully open anymore after the refurbishment. The room had a beautiful view and we could only take photos through the glass. The camera didn't fit through the small opening of the window.

We could also see the castle from our room and were able to watch Disney Dreams! on the third night from our room.

Compass Club Lounge

The Compass Club Lounge is where we had breakfast and Tea-Time. The lounge is in Art Déco Style and looks gorgeous. It is devided in different areas, the lounge, the bar and the breakfast buffet area.
We loved the animation that was used on the walls, with the seagulls flying over the ocean and the portholes with the waves splashing against them. It made us feel as if we were on the Disney Cruiseline.
The star-filled ceiling in the lounge catches your attention immediatly. It's very beautiful.

Tea-Time is an absolute treat! Because we had a long day including our journey to Disneyland Paris and spending the day in Disneyland Park, we decided to go back to the hotel and have Tea-Time in the hotel. We were overwhelmed by all the lovely castmembers and all the delicious treats. On the left side of the bar there were sweet snacks and drinks, on the right side there were more spiced snacks. There was also cheese, fruit, nuts, bread. There was so much to choose from! We especially loved the Mango mini tarts. We wish we had a recipe of this.

When we got back to our room after Tea-Time, the curtains were closed and there were chocolate coins on our beds. Such a lovely gesture!

After a goodnight sleep we went to have breakfast. Breakfast was delicious too and again lots to choose from. The variety was more than we were used to in the other breakfast rooms. There were many sorts of bread, little donuts and sweet snacks. Cheese, bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausages and lots more. What a great start of the day.
It also made us smile everytime when the whole staff started singing because of someone's birthday.

The verdict

We were very impressed with our experience of the Compass Club at Newport Bay Club.
All the castmembers made sure we had a lovely time and the service and all the extras are absolutely great! It was a very relaxing holiday for us. We are very certain next time we'll stay at Newport Bay Club we'll book Compass Club again.

If you like to be on a holiday and you also like to enjoy your time in the hotel instead of spending time at the parks only, then you should definately try Compass Club at Newport Bay Club!

Thank you so much to everyone at the Newport Bay Club Hotel for making this a memorable stay.
